How Do I Get Started?

1) Click register to create a new member account and you will be sent a notification email. (Please check your spam folder if you do not see it quickly.) Click on the link in the notification email to confirm your email address. If you're unable to do this online, call us at (540) 443.1613 and our coordinator will help to set you up. 

2) All members must attend an orientation session to learn how to make exchanges as a TimeBank member. Orientations are typically done online using Zoom. You will be contacted by email, shortly after registering on the website, to give you information about upcoming orientation sessions. 

3) At the end of the orientation session you will be asked to sign a Membership Agreement.

4) We care about the safety and security of our members, and conduct a background check on all applying members as part of the orientation process. If you are able, you will be asked to pay a one-time fee of $20 to cover the cost of the background check. If you are unable to pay, we will be happy to provide you with a scholarship to cover the cost. 

5) Once you have completed these steps the TimeBank Coordinator will approve your membership, giving you full access to the website.

Login to the Timebank and

  • fill out your member profile so that other members can get to know you
  • Post some offers, skills, talents or services that you have to offer other members.

  • Post some requests, for services or skills that you are looking for.

  • Record any exchanges that you have made with other timebank members.

Ongoing Use of the TimeBank

  • Don't hesitate to respond to an offer or request. This is exactly how new sharing and relationships are built to strengthen our community.

  • Please respond in a timely manner to calls or emails you receive from your neighbors about the requests or offers you've posted.

  • After you've communicated with a neighbor and determined that a service exchange is appropriate, make specific arrangements (date and time) for the exchange.

  • Fulfill the exchange and save a record of it in your hours account.

  • Come back and review offers and requests from other members.

Do this again and again to help keep our community flourishing.
